#ProBucks Playoffs Update – May 9


In the NHL

Ryan Dzingel and the Columbus Blue Jackets fell to Boston, 4-2, in their Eastern Conference second round series of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Dzingel scored for the Blue Jackets in game five at Boston.

Mike Bales is the goaltending coach for the Carolina Hurricanes, who opened their Eastern Conference Final series vs. Boston last night, losing 5-2. He is in his second year with the Canes and was in the same  role with Pittsburgh when they won two Stanley Cups.


In the AHL

Four Buckeyes are still playing in the American Hockey League Calder Cup playoffs.

Matthew Weis and the Chicago Wolves are tied with Matt Bartkowski and the Iowa Wild, 2-2, with each team winning twice on home ice. Game five is slated for Friday in Iowa, while game six (and seven, if needed) will be in Chicago.

David Gust and the Bakersfield Condors trail San Diego, 2-1, with game four Friday in San Diego. Game five will be Saturday in Bakersfield. If needed, game six will be in San Diego Monday, with game seven Wednesday in Bakersfield.

Nick Schilkey and the Charlotte Checkers swept their series with Hershey, 4-0, to advance to the conference finals against the Toronto Marlies. The series doesn’t start until May 17 in Charlotte.

Zac Dalpe and the Cleveland Monsters were swept in their second round series by the Toronto Marlies to end their season.

Ohio State Buckeyes

In the ECHL

Chris Crane and the Toledo Walleye won their Central Division final series vs. Cincinnati, 4-1. They take on the Tulsa Oilers in the Western Conference Finals best-of-seven series starting Friday and Sunday in Toledo.

In the North Division finals, Sam Jardine and the Newfoundland Growlers defeated the Manchester Monarchs, 4-2. In the Eastern Conference Final series, the Growlers will take on the Florida Everblades, starting Friday/Sunday in Florida.
