In the AHL
Matthew Weis and Nick Schilkey are both in action in the American Hockey League Calder Cup conference finals.
Schilkey and the Charlotte Checkers are tied with Toronto at two games each in the Eastern Conference series. Game five is Friday in Toronto, with game six Sunday in Charlotte. If needed, game seven will be Tuesday in Charlotte. In 12 playoff games, Schilkey has five assists.
Weis and the Chicago Wolves trail their Western Conference series with San Diego, 2-1, with game four Friday and game five Saturday in San Diego. Games six and seven if necessary will be in Chicago Monday and Wednesday, respectively. Weis has a 2-2-4 line through 14 playoff games.
In the ECHL
Chris Crane and Sam Jardine are competing for the ECHL Kelly Cup. The series starts Friday/Saturday in Newfoundland, before the series shifts to Toledo Wednesday/Friday. Game five if needed will be June 1 in Toledo, with games six and seven set for June 4 and 5, respectively, in Newfoundland if necessary.
Crane and the Toledo Walleye won game seven vs. the Tulsa Oilers Tuesday to reach the finals. Through 18 playoff games, Crane has nine points, on two goals and seven assists.
In the Eastern Conference finals, Sam Jardine and the Newfoundland Growlers won their conference final series vs. the Florida Everblades, 4-1. In the playoffs, Jardine leads the Newfoundland defensemen with six assists and seven points through 17 games. Jardine is looking to win the Kelly Cup for the second time. He was part of Colorado’s championship team in 2017.
