Setting The Scene

  • The Buckeyes have won 13 of their last 14 games overall and will look for another this Thursday night against Wisconsin.

  • The Buckeyes are riding a 10-game home win-streak ad come into Thursday’s contest with a 17-4 record overall and a 9-1 mark in the conference.
  • The Badgers have dropped eight of their last nine games and come to town with a 6-14 mark overall and 2-8 record in conference play. The last trip to Columbus for Wisconsin was almost two years to the day, Feb. 7, 2013, a 65-59 overtime victory for the Buckeyes.

Noting The Buckeyes

  • The Buckeyes are second in the conference and are fourth in the country in scoring at 85.2 ppg.
  • Ohio State is ranked 7th in both the AP poll and coaches polls.
  • The Buckeyes have made 58 three-point field goals in the last six games (9.7 per game).
  • The Buckeyes have won 10-straight home games.

Wisconsin Snapshot                          

  • The Badgers opened Big Ten play with a solid win over Indiana but has since dropped eight of nine and come into Thursday night’s matchup with a record of 6-14 overall and 2-8 in conference play.
  • Wisconsin’s other B1G victory was a dominating 82-68 victory over Penn State on Jan. 10.
  • The Badgers shoot over 36 percent as a team from long range which is fourth in the conference but are struggling at the foul line, making just 67.4 percent of their freebies.
  • Like the Buckeyes, Wisconsin struggles on the glass. UW is last in the conference in rebounding margin at -5.0 while the Buckeyes are 12th at -3.2.
  • Guard Nicole Baumann has made 56 three-point field goals and leads the team in scoring at 16.3 ppg. She has also blocked 20 shots and has swiped a team-high 31 steals.
  • Dakota Whyte (12.5 ppg) and Michala Johnson (10.8 ppg) are the other two Badgers averaging in double-figures.
  • Whyte is the team’s leading assister and Johnson is connecting on over 51 percent of her shots inside. Johnson is also second on the team in rebounding, pulling down 6.2 per game.

Series History vs. Wisconsin

McGuff vs. Wisconsin

  • Head coach Kevin McGuff holds a record of 2-1 against Wisconsin.
  • This will be McGuff’s first game against Wisconsin at home as all of his previous three meetings with the Badgers game in Madison.
  • He led Washington to a 60-55 victory in Madison on Nov. 21, 2012 and then split a pair of trips to the cheese state each of the last two years.

Last Year vs. Wisconsin

  • Ohio State jumped out to an early 15-2 lead and answered every one of Wisconsin’s threats in an 85-73 wire-to-wire victory On Jan. 29, 2015 at the Kohl Center.
  • Ohio State had four players in double-figures led by freshman Kelsey Mitchell’s 23 points. Mitchell also tied for the team lead with four assists.
  • Her back court running mate Ameryst Alston hit three three-pointers and finished with 19 points and four assists.
  • In the front court, Shayla Cooper had 17 points and six rebounds while Alexa Hart notched her sixth double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Asia Doss and Cait Craft each played significant roles in the win as well. Doss had seven points, four rebounds and a team-high four steals. Craft had seven points, five rebounds and four assists but it was her mirroring of Nicole Bauman down the stretch in the second half that really helped seal the victory.
  • The Badgers were paced by a career-high 31 points from Bauman who hit eight three-pointers. But she didn’t hit an over the final 7:45.
  • After the 15-2 run to start the game, the Buckeyes managed foul trouble the rest of the first half and would lead 46-33 at the break.
  • Wisconsin made a couple of runs in the second half behind Bauman’s shooting but the Buckeyes answered each time.
