Thad Matta, Ohio State head coach
On Ohio State’s performance
“This was definitely a great team win from the standpoint that our defense stepped it up and did exactly what it needed to do to beat Wisconsin. I told our team to try to understand that if they play well for 35 seconds for every possession, things are going to happen like they are supposed to.”

On the defensive performance and Evan Turner’s foul trouble
“The defense played hard and intense all night. We hate to see a player go down like Evan because of getting into foul trouble. But we put stuff in practice to prepare for those types of situations and how to execute. It helps having an extra day to prepare.”

On David Lighty’s performance
“There were stretches throughout the season where he picked up his performance. It’s comforting to know that he’s going to get the job done with whatever guys we have on the floor. We have a tough schedule coming up and it’s going to keep getting tough, but David and everyone else are going to be prepared.”

Evan Turner, junior guard/forward
On beating Purdue and Wisconsin this week
“It was a great week for us. We all played to our potential and we got the job done with great execution.”

On the crowd
“They were great tonight. The crowd provides us with energy and support. It’s almost like a sixth man on the court. It’s a fun atmosphere to play in and we all thrive off it.”

William Buford, sophomore forward
On his team-leading 12 rebounds
“My shot wasn’t falling for most of the night, so I needed to do something to help the team out.”

David Lighty, junior guard/forward
On beating Purdue and Wisconsin this week
“It was a really big week. We knew we had a difficult schedule, but we felt like we gave away the first two games against Michigan and Minnesota. We can’t worry about the past though; we can only look ahead to the future and take it one game at a time.”

On the team’s vibe after this week
“They were big wins, but we were ranked at one time as well. It’s just a matter of us getting in the gym and working hard and getting better and better.”

Bo Ryan, Wisconsin head coach
On Wisconsin’s performance
“We struggled shooting, and they also struggled when they played us in Wisconsin. That’s life in the Big Ten sometimes, especially when you’re on the road. Ohio State is playing now like they were earlier in the year. They’ll still be making some noise.”

On Wisconsin’s post play
“Dallas Lauderdale is long and he guarded our post pretty well. The thing is, we had open looks on the outside tonight. If they’re not falling, then that’s when we have a problem.”

On Wisconsin’s defense
“Ohio State made some very tough shots tonight. If the other team is getting open looks, then we obviously can’t be happy with our defense. They forced some tough shots and got them to fall. If we’re playing good defense and they get those kinds of shots to drop, then our defense still looks good.”
