Thad Matta, Ohio State head coach
Opening statement
“Obviously it feels good to be back on the winning track. You have to give Penn State credit for playing hard the entire game. They hit some incredible shots and cut the lead from 11 to five very quickly. (Geary) Claxton was awesome tonight and we really didn’t have any answers for him. I thought we started the game off better than we have been but we’re still searching for consistent play. We had some good open looks tonight but the ball just wasn’t falling for us. Terence (Dials) had a down night tonight, so we need him to be playing better. But all in all, we’ll take this win and move on.”

On shooting
“We had a stretch in the first half where we made three straight 3-pointers and after that we tried to do too much. (Aaron) Johnson was a very physical presence for them inside and did a very good job on Terence. He wasn’t able to get good looks so that opened up our shots from the outside. Unfortunately we didn’t shoot the ball as well as we’d like.”

On Je’Kel Foster
“Je’Kel made some huge for us tonight, but he’s been doing that all season. Defensively, he did a better job on (Geary) Claxton. Je’Kel loves to win, and he really struggles with losing. He prepares so hard and wants to get things going in the right direction.”

Brandon Fuss-Cheatham, Ohio State senior guard
On the game
“It’s always good to get a win against a Big Ten team. We did a good job of working the ball outside to the perimeter and getting some good open looks outside the 3-point line which is something we have done a good job of over the last twp weeks.” On his game play against Penn State
“It was nice to get some shots off and score points for the team. Over the past couple of weeks I have not been able to get many shots off and I have not been shooting that well either. So tonight was a good confidence boost for both the team and myself.”

Je’Kel Foster, Ohio State junior guard
On the game
“It was good to get a win. It always is difficult to lose, and the past couple games have not been our best efforts. So tonight we came out with chips on our shoulders and played with the attitude that we have something to prove.”

On the play of the offense
“We did a good job of getting Terence (Dials) the ball early so he could make his presence felt. As we got Terence the ball more it opened up the outside for our perimeter shooters and gave people like Tony (Stockman), Brandon (Fuss-Cheatham) and myself a chance to convert 3-point chances.”

Ed DeChellis, Penn State head coach
On the game
“I don’t think we competed well in the first half. I was very disappointed. I think we were nervous playing on the road, but were able to calm down in the second half. I thought our perimeter game was good. I thought Foster played well for Ohio State. Ohio State was able to step up and make big shots and that’s all it takes.”

On the Ohio State senior players
“Fuss-Cheatham was able to make a big three towards the end of game. He was able to make big shots at critical times in the game. We knew Dials could beat us. The seniors stepped up tonight and were able to take a win.”
