Thad Matta, Ohio State head coach
On the game
“We got off to a good start and did a good job sharing the basketball. Defensively, at the end of the first half and late in the game we had some breakdowns. I talked to the guys about maturity and concentration. I am pleased we what we did offensively.”

On Jeremie Simmons
“Jeremie does a lot of extra work and we try to keep him aggressive and making more plays. He knocked down some shots and those are things we need him to do for us.”

On William Buford
“William is seeing a lot of his hard work paying off. The basketball court for him is like a math class; he learns one thing one week and something else the next. He has a better understanding of what we’re trying to get accomplished.”

On Coach Crean
“I root for every coach except for the ones we’re playing against. I don’t look forward to going back to Bloomington in a few weeks.”

On Nikola Kecman’s injury
“It was just one of those freak things. He was going to be a contributor to what we wanted to do this year. To lose another guy is hard.”

William Buford, freshman guard
On his confidence level
“I’m pretty confident right now.  It’s nice knowing that my team is here for me- it helps me stay relaxed on the court.”

On the team’s improved shooting
“We’ve been working hard in practice, staying later and getting there early, working on making the extra pass and getting better looks.  The better the look the better the shot.”

On Coach Matta’s end of game coaching
“He just got on us in the huddle because we weren’t finishing strong.  He just wanted us to play harder on “D” and get better shots on offense.”

Jon Diebler, Sophomore guard
On the game
“We moved the ball well tonight. We had over 20 assists. Our post players did a great job setting screens tonight. I think we reversed the floor well. We’ve been doing better in practice offensively and it showed tonight. “

On Saturday’s match against Michigan
“It’s going to be a taught game Saturday. We know Michigan is a great team and they play well at home.”

On Indiana
“Indiana was a great team last year and they’re a great team this year. They played hard and they’re only going to get better. They come out and compete every night.”

Jeremie Simmons, Junior guard
On moving the ball
“We have been working a lot in practive moving the ball. We see that when we move the ball, we get a lot of open shots.”

On playing the point guard
“Coach challenged me tonight, he said he wanted 10 assists from me and I was two shy. I’ve come along way from playing the two spot,’ but I think I’m getting the hang of it.”

Tom Crean, Indiana Head Coach
On game against Ohio State
“We need to continue to understand to be ready to fight at the start of the game. Unfortunately, the other team made a substantial mark and Ohio State did just that. They don’t understand the fight it takes against a good team, but we will go home and get ready to play the next one. They are a smart group of guys that are hungry and are trying to learn.”

On Diebler’s performance

“There’s no question that he does an incredible job of moving without the basketball. We plan not to give him open 3’s but he is one of the better three-point shooters in America, let a lone the Big Ten. Diebler felt like he was open and made Ohio State a longer team. We need to stay on track and get us better to what it takes to win.”
