Jim Foster, Ohio State head coach
On Ohio State’s late-game run
“We started to guard them better at the end of the game. We were soft for most of the first half and on offense we really improved our spacing and reversing of the basketball. Against them we had to stretch the zone and we did a much better job of that late in the game.”

On the bench play
“We have a deep basketball team and our bench contributes in a lot of ways that doesn’t always show up on a stat sheet. Tonight their contributions did. Stephanie (Blanton) did a great job on the defensive end, as well as Marscilla (Packer).”

Jessica Davenport, sophomore center
On the physical play of MSU
“They are a very physical basketball team and coming into the game coach kept telling me that I wouldn’t be able to win a wrestling match with them. I was forced to move my feet and get deeper position and my teammates did a good job of getting me the ball.”

Marscilla Packer, freshman guard
On the game
“It was a lot of fun out there. I kept my focus and my teammates did a great job of keeping me relaxed out there.”

Brandie Hoskins, sophomore guard
On Michigan State’s run in the second half
“They came out strong in the second half and we had to take it one possession at a time. We played to win tonight instead of playing not to lose, like we did against Penn State. In the huddles we kept saying to take it one possession at a time.”

Joanne McCallie, Michigan State head coach
On the game
“Ohio State did a good job defensively. I credit them. They played hard and well. There was a lack of maturity on our part. We played hard but not as well.”

On the defensive match-up
“I knew the game would be a defensive battle. Every game is different and there is a different challenge. The game was very physical and Ohio State did a good job.”

On Ohio State center Jessica Davenport
“She is an excellent player that works hard. She has improved a lot since last season.”

Liz Shimek, MSU junior forward
On the second half
“We stopped focusing on what we had to do. We were not handling the ball well.”

Kristin Haynie, MSU senior guard
On the second half
“We came out strong with a steal in the second half. After that point, we let Ohio State in. We were not talking or boxing out and did not respond to them. We had too many turnovers and did not take care of the ball.”

Lindsay Bowen, MSU junior guard
On Ohio State
“Ohio State played tough. They worked together as a team and were able to get open.”
