Thad Matta, Ohio State head coach
On Ohio State
“We weren’t challenging shots quite as well as I would have liked. I couldn’t be happier with the way Matt (Terwilliger) is playing right now. It’s such an advantage to have Matt come in and give us good minutes. Matt is a great athlete and he was in the right place at the right time. He got three rebounds and I thought he did a heck of a job even in foul trouble.”

On the game
“I don’t know if I’ve been more nervous before a game because I knew our guys were exhausted after nine straight days of traveling. I told these guys after the game they deserved a game off.”

On the Ohio State fans
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen what the fans did tonight. I thought they showed tremendous loyalty coming tonight and they didn’t have to do that.”

Mike Conley, Freshman Guard
On the game tonight
“They didn’t guard us as well and we started to run plays. It made it easier to get in the lane and create plays. That is what I was able to do tonight.”

On the team when Oden was not playing
“I was able to step up my play that much more for the team. When he is out of the game, the team plays harder. We know the `big man’ is not down low and we have to step up our game. I am more scoring-minded when he is out of the game. I try to create a lot of plays that way. I think we did a good job of that tonight.”

On scoring a career-high 23 points
“I think I have been playing better and better every game, so I am more comfortable. It is all about letting the game come to you. I didn’t feel like I scored 23 points. I get caught up in the flow of the game. I wasn’t thinking about the statistics.”

Jamar Butler, Senior
On the Michigan rivalry
“I would say it is not as big as football. But it is definitely still there.”

On Matta’s advice to the team
“He just told us to have a lot of energy in our game. He told us to put pressure on the defense and get turnovers.”

Greg Oden, Freshman
On how Mike Conley played
“Mike (Conley) can take over when he wants to. I just sat back and watched and did my part. He can do a lot. He is a great player. We have not even seen the best of him yet.”

Michigan head coach Tommy Amaker
On Ohio State and freshman guard Mike Conley Jr.
“Certainly, Ohio State is an outstanding basketball team. They can beat you in a number of ways because they have so many weapons who can make plays. Conley is as good as or better than most point guards in the country. He can take over a game and he did that tonight.”

On being able to run up and down the floor with the Buckeyes
“It’s really tough to run with them when they can block shots and grab offensive rebounds like they did. It’s not just (Greg) Oden either. Hunter, Terwilliger and even Harris blocked shots inside tonight.”

On being aggressive inside
“We felt we could be aggressive around the goal and get fouled. We did the first two parts but the last part of the equation is to make the foul shots. They definitely had a better percentage than we did.”
