Thad Matta, head coach Ohio State
On Ohio State
“We didn’t shoot the ball particularly well tonight. Hopefully we can get Greg (Oden) the ball more but we have other guys out there that can score. We played with a couple things to give Greg the ball. On our run, a lot of the shots where transition oriented. “

On Penn State
“Penn State is the Best 1-12 Big Ten team I have ever seen. They can really shoot the 3 and they work really hard on the boards. We are fortunate to get the win although I thought we shot better in the second half.”

Jamar Butler, junior guard
On his 3-pointer run
“The defense drew to Greg inside and left the perimeter open. I just set my feet and took shots. It was pretty big at the time but it came from Greg and the pressure he gets inside.”

On Penn State’s defense
“We did not shoot well last time we played them. Their defense makes it tough to get the ball inside and we didn’t hit shots.”

On changes at the half
“We just stayed positive. We looked back at things and made some changes. We came out and played harder the second half.”

Greg Oden, freshman center
On getting the ball inside
“We have been stressing getting the ball inside, not just to me but down-low to our big men. But, if the three-point shots are open then they should take them. If my teammates are open on the perimeter they should shoot.”

On loss against Wisconsin
“I just remember we lost. Tomorrow we have the day off and the coaches are going to work really hard to get us prepared. Come Friday, we are going to work as hard as we can. We don’t look back. We just take this game as a new one.”

Mike Conley Jr., freshman guard
On second half
“Our transition game and Ron Lewis really got us going in the second half. We stepped it up defensively and got a couple good shots.”

On getting the ball to Greg Oden
“I try to get him the ball as much as possible. I tell my teammates that if they have to pass up an open shot sometimes to get the ball to him and our big men then we should.”

Ed DeChellis, Penn State head coach
On the second half
“We missed some shots that would have extended the lead and given us more breathing room. If a couple of loose balls and shots that rolled out go our way, maybe it is a different game.”

On Penn State
“We made some tough shots in the first half. We executed our game plan. We played the tempo and pressured shots and used the shot clock and shorten the game, but we just came up short.”

On Penn State guard Mike Walker
“Mike did an excellent job for us tonight. He really controlled the game and the tempo. Ben (Luber) went down right away and we had to go with Mike all night and he did a good job for us.”
