Box Score |  Notes

Jim Foster, Ohio State head coach
On the game
“I think we lost our focus on defense. There was a point when we were shooting 82 percent and we were still being outscored. We can’t be an exchange-baskets team. I thought we spaced the floor well. In the first half we might have rushed some 3-pointers and we weren’t waiting for (Jessica Davenport) to get set. If you have someone shooting 12-of-14 from the field and she’s not open the first time, I think you might want to give her a second look.”

On outrebounding Nebraska
“They spread the floor well, so I thought we should control the boards from that point of view. We shot well, so to get eight offensive rebounds when you shoot like we did, is good.”

On Caity Matter’s shooting
“Her teammates did a very good job getting her the ball. I think the maturation of her as a player is realizing that she can make shots later (in the game) if she wasn’t making them earlier.”

Jessica Davenport, Ohio State sophomore center
On Ohio State’s offense
“I think we’re confident in ourselves. We have a lot of people who can do a lot of different things with the ball. It’s hard to guard us right now.”

On getting open
“Sometimes being able to get low gives me the best angle. Just because I’m tall doesn’t mean I have to play tall until it’s time to extend to shoot.”

Caity Matter, Ohio State senior guard
On her shooting
“I know I can shoot. I can shoot the pull-up if I need to, but (driving) is something I can do as well. I have to be more versatile. I think last year I started to realize that. It doesn’t matter if I am making shots early in the game, I have to keep shooting.”

On her teammates’ passing
“My teammates were driving and the defense was rotating and we were reversing so I was open. It’s mostly about my teammates getting me the ball.”

On Ohio State’s play
“We played with execution. Overall, we executed our offense and took good shots.”

Connie Yori, Nebraska head coach
On the game
“Ohio State is a good basketball team. We knew coming in they were capable of scoring in bunches. They are able to score all 40 minutes. We couldn’t stop them – especially in the second half. We are not as good on defense as we were a year ago, and they are better offensively than they were a year ago.”

On Ohio State center Jessica Davenport
“Once she gets the ball on the low block, it’s over. We broke down on defense and they had an easy time moving the ball. They were able to dribble penetrate and keep the ball moving. Ohio State is a more mature team than they were last year.”

On Ohio State guard Caity Matter
“She is a more versatile player than she was a year ago. She is more capable of putting the ball on the floor. It is clear she is the team leader and is a better offensive player.”
