Iowa head coach Steve Alford
On the Game
“I could not be more proud of our guys right now. Our guys put forth the kind of effort they have given us all year and I was glad to see us close this one out. I have been feeling their pain of late and I was glad we were able to break the ice in the second half of the game.”

On Josh Kimm and Kurt Spurgeon and Chauncey Leslie
“Kimm and Spurgeon were our keys to the game. They definitely energized our team in the second half and definitely loosened our belt by at least three notches. We talked about not being as tentative and flatfooted in the second half and they definitely played big along with Chauncey Leslie. Leslie hit two big threes for us in the second half and he distributed the ball extremely well.”

On Ohio State
“They had been on a roll of late and they had the right to feel back in the hunt. I knew it was not going to be easy. Any road win is big for us and this is our third road win of the year. We held them to 28 percent shooting in the second half and got our easier shots quicker than in the first half.”

Ohio State head coach Jim O’Brien
On the second half
“In all the years I have been coaching, I don’t know if I have ever been this disappointed as I was in the second half. It has nothing to do with the way we played. It has everything to do with what was going on in our heads. We did not play very well in the first half and we had no heart in the second half.”

On Iowa
“They really exploited the things we don’t do very well.”

On Ohio State’s play in the first half
“I honestly believe we could have been up by 20 points. We had our chances and we didn’t capitalize on the things we had going for us in the second half.”

Ohio State senior guard Sean Connolly
“I don’t know what happened. They came at us with more intensity in the second half and took it to us. We gave them a lot of easy hoops and they made some good shots. They were cold in the first half but they turned it around.”

“After the first half we should have had a bigger lead. We turned the ball over a lot and didn’t play nearly as well as we could have.”

Ohio State junior center Velimir Radinovic
“It was a sense of urgency in the last couple of seconds. I am at a loss of words right now but I know we can’t get down. We have to keep our heads up and work hard every day. We have a road game coming up with Northwestern and the Big Ten tournament.”

“My hat goes off to them (Iowa). They rallied against us and came out ahead. We weren’t making shots. We were careless and our guys were not communicating. It was a disappointing loss but we have to stay focused and make sure we are all on the same page.”
