Brandon Mitchell, senior strong safety
On Ohio State’s defense
“We were fighting hard to try to make plays. Michigan had a great offensive plan, but I don’t think we played as well as we could.”

On senior day
“I was extremely emotional because when I heard the roar of the crowd I knew it was my last time to play in front of the best fans in the land. It is something to tell my children about. I’ll tell them how it was an honor to get the win for our team, our school and the city of Columbus.”

Joel Penton, senior defensive tackle
On the game
“I just wanted a `W’ and that’s what we got. Every year, we are playing for a national championship. I think it is a bit of a surprise for us to be undefeated and heading into the big show. It was an incredibly physical game. You have big, strong Big Ten players battling, so it was a lot of fun.”

James Laurinaitis, sophomore linebacker
On the win
“Every week, we say we need to get better at something and we do, but this week we are going to sit back and enjoy this win. An outright Big Ten championship is amazing. It is a big accomplishment for our team. This game played out as one of the greatest OSU vs. Michigan and No. 1 vs. No. 2 games.

Ted Ginn Jr. junior wide receiver
On Troy Smith
“I think he has the Heisman for sure now. He deservers it for all the work he has done, coming in everyday and being a leader. Like Troy said, `It is a team award,’ but I think since they have to give it to one guy, it should go to him.”

On his touchdown
“First the protection was great for Troy (Smith). Then I had to sell the fact I was going to stay in and block. Once I got by my man, I just ran as fast as I could up the seam.”

On a rematch with Michigan
“That is really not up to us. Today, it was just two really great teams giving everything they could to win.”

Kirk Barton, senior offensive linemen
On the game
“I think we had a great deal of confidence coming into this game. We heard a lot of people saying we had not played anyone, but I think we played a very good team and came away with a big victory.”

On the game
“This game is a classic. Tomorrow when you wake up everyone will know this game is a classic. It had everything, two great teams with a shot at a conference and national championship. I don’t know how it could get better.”

On being the outright Big Ten champion
“This is huge. This is a once in a life time thing. I’m going to enjoy this. You have to because it won’t get any bigger than this.”
