Bucks Go Pro
- The Ohio State Department of Athletics hosted the Bucks Go Pro program for the sixth year in a row, welcoming 43 student-athletes from 21 sports as interns within the athletics department and on campus throughout the summer. The program strives to provide student-athletes valuable work experience on campus while assisting them in their desired career paths.
- Bucks Go Pro 2.0 offered an opportunity for 17 student-athletes to intern off-campus in local companies and businesses including Rogue Fitness, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Rockbridge, and Honda.
- The department held its first Bucks Go Pro Road Trip, where 27 Buckeyes (mostly rising second years) traveled to Indianapolis for a unique two-day professional development experience. The first day included a visit to the NCAA headquarters, with a tour of the Hall of Champions before sessions on NCAA governance, championships and leadership development, followed by a stop at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and dinner with the general manager of the Indianapolis Colts. On day two, Buckeyes visited Eli Lilly, a Fortune 500 company that employs more than 100 Ohio State alumni, for a tour and information session; the road trip ended with a meet and greet and conversations with staff at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Buckeyes Go International
- The Ohio State Department of Athletics sponsored 55 student-athletes from 29 sports traveling to 11 countries during 2017-18, providing international experiences through education abroad and service-learning.
- Service learning trips included the department’s first winter trip when 12 student-athletes traveled to Dominican Republic with Soles4Souls; summer experiences included 13 student-athletes traveling to Costa Rica with Global Vision International in May and 14 visiting Puerto Rico with Soles4Souls in August.
- Two Buckeyes headed to Vietnam with Coach for College, while 15 students studied abroad through faculty-led programs.
