COLUMBUS, Ohio – It’s time for the No. 22 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team to tumble into the 2018 campaign. The Buckeyes are set to open action on Saturday when they visit No. 6 UCLA. The meet is slated for a 9 p.m. ET start at Pauley Pavilion. The contest will be live on the Pac-12 Network.

Ohio State and UCLA have only gone head-to-head twice with the Buckeyes trailing 0-2 in the series. However, the two teams have crossed paths seven times at the NCAA Championships over the years. 

A PEEK AT 2018

The Scarlet & Gray has 10 letterwinners off the 2017 NCAA Regional squad returning and welcomes six newcomers to the program. Included in the 10 are Alexis Mattern and Kaitlyn Hofland, a pair of All-Big Ten honorees a season ago. 


The Buckeyes start the season sitting at No. 22 in the 2018 NACGC/W Preseason Coaches’ Poll. Other Big Ten teams in the Top 25 include No. 7 Michigan, No. 9 Nebraska, No. 20 Iowa, No. 23 Illinois and No. 25 Penn State. Ohio State will face three of the five ranked conference foes.


Ohio State was voted fourth in the Big Ten Preseason Coaches’ Poll, the conference announced on Dec. 14. The Buckeyes checked in behind Michigan, Nebraska and Iowa while Penn State rounded out the top five selections. In addition, senior Alexis Mattern and freshman Jenna Swartzentruber were named gymnasts to watch in the league.


Season tickets, on sale now, include a ticket to each of the four home meets and are just $40 (reserved) and $29 (general admission) for adults. It is $29 (reserved) and $18 (general admission) for students, youths, and seniors (62+). Single-meet tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Jan. 11 at $8 for adults and $5 for students, youths and seniors (62+). Youth under the age of six are free.
