COLUMBUS, Ohio Blaz Rola and Kevin Metka, members of the No. 4 Ohio State men’s tennis team, were recognized by the ITA Friday when they were named to the 2013 ITA National Indoor Championship All-Tournament Team. Rola earned No. 1 singles all-tournament team laurels, while Rola was joined by Metka at No. 3 doubles.

The Buckeyes (10-2) return to action at noon Saturday when they face No. 25 Notre Dame and No. 24 LSU at noon Sunday. Both matches will take place at the Varsity Tennis Center at 880 W. Henderson Road.

Advancing to the semifinals, the Scarlet and Gray were assisted in large part by Rola’s 2-0 record during the event. In the opening match vs. No. 13 California, Rola defeated Ben McLachlan, 6-3, 4-2 (retired) en route to helping the Buckeyes win, 4-0, vs. the Golden Bears. Up next vs. No. 5 Pepperdine, Rola was leading No. 4 Sebastian Fanselow, 6-3, 4-4, before the match was suspended after the Scarlet and Gray clinched a 4-0 win. Finally, vs. top-ranked Virginia, Rola, who is 62nd in the country, downed No. 7 Jarmere Jenkins as the Buckeyes dropped a close 4-3 decision.

Ohio State did not drop a doubles point throughout the tournament as it was aided by Rola and Metka’s 3-0 mark. Against California, the Buckeye duo handed Gregory Bayane and Chase Melton an 8-5 setback, while vs. Pepperdine, Rola and Metka blanked David Sofaer and Mousheg Hovhannisyan, 8-0. The tournament concluded for the OSU tandem with an 8-4 victory vs. Alex Domijan and Mitchell Frank.
