COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University men’s volleyball program has added three student-athletes to the 2014-15 roster. Sophomores Matt Dorn and Ryan Genn, as well as junior Christian Franceschi, have all transferred from the University of the Pacific.

Matt Dorn
6-5 – So. – Middle Blocker – San Diego, Calif.
2014 (Freshman Season; at Pacific):
Played in 16 matches and 42 sets for the Tigers, accumulating 62.5 points on 43 kills and 34 blocks (5s, 29a) … attacked at a .281 clip (43-16-96) for the season … put away nine of 16 errorless swings (.562) in a three-setter at BYU (Jan. 25) … sent back six block assists versus UC San Diego (Feb. 8).

Personal: Son of Jonathan and Lisa Dorn … has two younger sisters, Lexi and Tori … majoring in mechanical engineering.

Christian Franceschi
6-3 – Jr. – Outside Hitter – Oviedo, Fla.
2014 (Sophomore Season; at Pacific):
Played in all 27 matches and all but one set for the Tigers … ranked second on the squad with 207 kills (2.30/set) and 102 digs (1.13/set) … added 43 blocks (3s, 40a) to total 244 points on the season … racked up nine or more kills in 12 of 27 contests, including a season-high total of 17 versus BYU (Feb. 14) and season-best clip of 5.00/set against Stanford (Feb. 12) in back-to-back matches … fired a pair of service aces three times and at least one ace in 11 matches.

2013 (Freshman Season; at Pacific): Played in 48 sets for the Orange and Black, picking up 37 kills on 91 swings … added four service aces, 19 digs and eight blocks.

Bishop Moore High School: Listed as part of the 2012 Mizuno/Volleyball Boys’ Fab 50, which honors the top 50 senior boys’ youth talents in the United States … played in the 2011 USA Volleyball High Performance Championships, and was one of 31 players selected for the USAV program where he competed against players from around the world … led his team to the Florida High School Athletic Association Final Four all four seasons, winning the state championship in 2010 and 2012 … earned All-League honors from 2009-12, the Orlando Player of the Year in 2011 and 2012, Mr. Florida Volleyball Player of the Year from 2010-12, Bishop Moore’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2009 and 2010, and was the team MVP in 2011 and 2012 … overall, his high school team posted a 103-9 record while he recorded 1,446 total kills … four-year Honor Roll and member of the History, Science and English National Honor Societies.

Personal: Son of Jorge and Jeanne Franceschi … older sister, Alexandra, was a standout on the volleyball court as well winning three Florida state championships at Lake Highland Preparatory School … majoring in biomedical engineering

Ryan Genn
6-4 – So. – Opposite – Pleasanton, Calif.
2014 (Freshman Season; at Pacific):
Played in 20 matches and 47 sets for the Tigers … totaled 35 kills, 33 digs, 20 blocks (1s, 19a) and three aces on the season … put away five kills in a pair of three-set matches at UC Santa Barbara (Jan. 17) and California Baptist (Jan. 23) … season-high six digs also came against California Baptist (2.00/set) … racked up eight points versus BYU (Feb. 14), bouncing four kills, two aces and getting in on four block assists.

Personal: Son of Tom and Joan Genn … has two older brothers, Sean and Mike … majoring in business administration.
