COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State football program has three student-athletes apiece named to the 2021 Outland Trophy and Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch lists, respectively, which were announced today by the Football Writers Association of America.
The Outland Trophy watch list includes offensive tackles Thayer Munford and Nicholas Petit-Frere, and defensive tackle Haskell Garrett. The trophy honors the nation’s top interior lineman. Ohio State is one of five schools (Ohio State, Clemson, Boston College, Oklahoma and Georgia) with three honorees on the Outland Trophy watch list.
The recipient of the 2021 Outland Trophy will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on December 9, 2021.
The Bronko Nagurski Trophy’s watch list includes cornerback Sevyn Banks, Garrett and defensive end Zach Harrison. The Nagurski honors the nation’s defensive player of the year.
The winner of the Bronko Nagurski Trophy will be chosen from five finalists and honored at an awards banquest Dec. 6 at the Charlotte (N.C.) Convention Center. Clemson leads with four Bronko Nagurski watch list honorees with Ohio State, Georgia, Iowa State and Oklahoma have three players, apiece.
