COLUMBUS, Ohio–The Great Western Lacrosse League today announced Greg Bice (So., Helotes, Texas/St. Mary’s Hall) has been named its player of the week for the week ending April 28. Bice, a defenseman, led the Buckeyes in their win over Butler, holding his man scoreless while also posting a goal and an assist and recording two groundballs.
This season, Bice, a preseason All-America honorable mention selection by Face-Off Yearbook, has started all 13 games for the Buckeyes. He has one goal and one assist, as well as a career-best 44 groundballs. His goal against Butler was the first of his career.
“Greg has been tremendous all season,” Joe Breschi, OSU head coach, said. “He’s really matured as a defenseman since last year. He’s developed an all-around solid game.”
The honor is the second consecutive and fourth of the season for the Buckeyes. Curtis Smith (Jr., Victoria, British Columbia/Oak Bay) won the honor Feb. 26 and April 21, while Tony Russo (So., Fallston, Md./Calvert Hall) was honored March 17.
The No. 18 Buckeyes (9-4, 3-1) close out the regular season at 1 p.m. Saturday when they travel to South Bend, Ind., to face Notre Dame (5-8, 3-1). The winner of the game will share the GWLL title with Fairfield, which already ended its conference season 4-1.
