OSU Turns in Multiple NCAA Times on Day One of Alabama Tri-Meet

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Buckeye swimming and diving teams completed the first day of a two-day tri-meet with Alabama and Texas on Friday.

Men’s Meet Notes

  • The No. 13 men’s team leads both No. 14 Alabama and No. 2 Texas. The Buckeyes lead the Crimson Tide, 124.00-62.00, and the Longhorns, 101.00-85.00.
  • The relay team of Alex Quach, Pete Krusinski, James Ward and Ruslan Gaziev earned a win in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:26.20.
  • Quach swam the 100 IM in 48.23 to place first.
  • Charlie Clark won the 1000 free with a time of 8:49.84.
  • Gaziev’s NCAA B standard time of 1:35.33 earned him a second-place finish in the 200 free.
  • Quach also picked up a win in the 100 back with an NCAA B cut time of 46.88. Thomas Watkins placed second, turning in an NCAA B standard time of 47.21.
  • Ian Mikesell (55.16) and Krusinski (55.45) placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 100 breast.
  • Chachi Gustafson and Jean-Pierre Khouzam finished second and third in the 200 fly. Gustafson swam the event in 1:47.10 and Khouzam finished in 1:47.99.
  • Gaziev placed first in the 50 free with a time of 19:90.
  • In the 400 free relay, the team of Quach, Ward, Tomas Navikonis and Gaziev earned a win with a time of 2:53.76.
  • Mo Noaman placed fourth in the 1-meter dive with an NCAA Zones qualifying score of 308.60.

Women’s Meet Notes

  • The No. 5 Buckeyes lead the No. 6 Crimson Tide, 115.00-71.00, and trail the No. 2 Longhorns, 109.00-77.00.
  • The relay team of Nyah Funderburke, Hannah Bach, Katherine Zenick and Amy Fulmer finished third in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:38.26.
  • Josephine Panitz finished second in the 100 IM, finishing in 55.03.
  • Gwen Woodbury placed third in the 1000 free with a time of 9:50.53. Maya Geringer finished fourth with a time of 9:54.24.
  • Fulmer’s time of 1:47.43 in the 200 free earned her a second-place finish.
  • Tristan Harrison placed second in the 100 back with a time of 54.16.
  • Panitz finished second in the 100 breast with an NCAA B cut time of 1:00.06. Leah Baker (1:01.72) placed fourth.
  • In the 200 fly, Felicia Pasadyn placed third with an NCAA B standard time of 1:57.20.
  • Fulmer (22.53), Teresa Ivan (22.60) and Zenick (22.79) finished two-three-four in the 50 free. Fulmer and Ivan’s times are both NCAA B cut times.
  • The relay team of Zenick, Harrison, Ivan and Fulmer earned a win in the 400 free relay with an NCAA B standard time of 3:15.70.
