When I made the decision to attend Ohio State from British Columbia, I knew the university would be able to provide me with an incomparable opportunity both academically and athletically. In my four years, it has lived up to all my expectations. I had the privilege to play lacrosse at the highest level while also working towards a degree at a big time university.
When lacrosse was taken away last month, I was disappointed and overcome with emotion because we had many aspirations as a team. We were beginning to come together as a unit and felt like there was so much in store for us. When Coach Myers called me to tell me that I had the opportunity to return in 2021, I didn’t hesitate. I knew I was coming back because we had unfinished business with my brothers and new aspirations to complete my masters.
Throughout my time as a Buckeye, Coach Myers has endlessly mentioned the great people that make up Ohio State and that is showing true during these times. I’d like to thank Gene Smith and Janine Oman for their leadership and the care they have for student-athletes at Ohio State. They’ve given me another opportunity to put on an Ohio State jersey and for that I’ll always be grateful.
I’ve grown so much as a player and as a person during my time at Ohio State and look forward to helping the 2021 team play deep into May. There’s been a long line of great Canadian players to come through Ohio State and I look forward to continuing to represent them in a positive light on and off the field.
The 2021 Buckeyes will be a hungry group that’s going to chase beyond anything our program has done before. I am extremely eager to be around my teammates and coaches soon and will do everything in my power to make Buckeye Nation proud.
A special thank you goes out to my parents and family for supporting me in every possible way. I couldn’t do this without them and appreciate all the sacrifices they’ve made so that I can pursue my dreams.
I’d also like to thank everyone who is making sacrifices during this time to fight this virus and keep people safe. We appreciate all that you are doing.
