As I reflect back on the season, it has been anything but normal for me and my entire team. We have had our share of adversities as our nation and the world continues to fight against the recent pandemic outbreak.
It was only about a month ago that athletes across the NCAA were notified that their seasons were abruptly ending. Emotions flooded the room as each of us thought that we would never share another moment with this same special group of people. However, as Gene Smith said, “We are all leaders and we will all persevere.” It is during this time when we are rushing to return back to our normal routines that we must find what is truly important to us.
With that being said, Ohio State has become my home filled with a built-in family and the sport I love. Softball has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Being on the field is where I feel most at home. This sport has provided me with people, relationships, growth and opportunities that have all helped to make me a stronger person on and off the field.
I have one more opportunity to wear Ohio State across my chest and to play alongside others who have the same ambition and heart as me. I am so thankful that I did not have to give up this sport just yet. Softball is what brought me to Ohio and it’s what’s keeping me here for another year.
I am extremely thankful for the NCAA, the Ohio State Athletics Department, Gene Smith and my coaching staff for giving me another opportunity to play one more year. I’ll be back to leave it all on the field one last time.
As always, Go Bucks!
