The last month has been strange, surreal and a bit uneasy. It started with us playing three games in 10 days, highlighted by a win that I’ll never forget over Notre Dame. After the game, we felt like we now had a notable win under our belts and were starting to hit our stride.
Two days later we were told our season was over. Even though I understood that we were up against something much bigger, and were in full support of the decision, I wasn’t ready for our season to be over.
When news came on Monday that spring sport athletes would be granted an additional year of eligibility from the NCAA, I was ecstatic. And my decision was easy. I was coming back in 2021 because, like Tre and Ryan, we had unfinished business. We had unfinished business and we were doing this together.
None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for Gene Smith, Janine Oman and Coach Myers. I am thankful and forever grateful to them for providing us with the opportunity to return and for their mentality to always put student-athletes first. This decision makes me even more grateful to go to such an amazing place like Ohio State.
As a captain, I’m so excited to continue to lead my teammates as we continue to chase our best. As a kid from Ontario, this program has become my family and second home. I want to leave it better than I found it and that’s what I’ll work towards every day.
While I look forward to the day I can get back on the field with my teammates, I first want to thank those on the front lines fighting this disease. We are thankful for your sacrifices and hope that you stay healthy.
