Olatoye Wins Second Weight Throw Title in 2017

Lexington, Ky. – Sade Olatoye won her second weight-throw event of 2017, and the men’s distance medley relay squad swiped first place on day one of the Kentucky Invitational at the Nutter Field House Friday evening.

Olatoye, who set the school record in the weight throw last week at the Buckeye Classic, captured first place with a heave of 20.13m (66-0.50). Kate Deaton finished fourth in the weight throw with a personal-record mark of 18.49m (60-8.00) as well.

The men’s distance relay team of Dominik Seitzer, Anthony Johnson, Jared Fleming and Luke Landis clocked the country’s fastest time with a readout of 9:53.27 to take gold.

The women’s distance relay squad of Lilly Saniel-Banrey, Tamani Wilson, Rachel Weber and Sarah Kanney finished in second place with a time of 11:53.37; that time is the fifth-fastest in the nation in 2017.

In the men’s weight throw, Max Seipel was the top Buckeye finisher with a personal-record mark of 19.24m (63-1.50) on his way to a fourth-place finish.

Ohio State will resume competition tomorrow at 9 a.m. ET with the men’s high jump.
