COLUMBUS, Ohio – Following a national championship in the weight throw and a Top-Five finish in the shot put at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, senior thrower Sade Olatoye was unanimously voted Big Ten Field Athlete of the Year by the conference’s 13 head coaches.
Olatoye adds to a decorated career and indoor season, recently named the 2019 USTFCCCA Great Lakes Regional Field Athlete of the Year as well as the Big Ten Field Athlete of the Championships following a Big Ten title in the shot put and weight throw.
The Dublin, Ohio native wins the award for the second time in three years, previously crowned Field Athlete of the Year in 2017, marking the first time an athlete from Ohio State received the award.
Olatoye threw a personal-best and school-record of 24.46 meters (80-3) for the title in the weight throw, also the third-best mark in NCAA history. Her shot put mark of 17.23m (56-6.5) was good for fifth overall.
