COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team defeated No. 43 Baylor, 4-3, in a neutral match in Milwaukee, Wis., Saturday. The Buckeyes swept the doubles 3-0 for the second time this season and was awarded the doubles point for the third-consecutive time. In singles, the two schools split 3-3, marking the second time this season that Ohio State relied on the doubles point for the win.

In No. 1 doubles, Sadhaf Pervez (Sr./Warren, N.J.) and Lindsay Williams (Jr./Beverly Hills, Mich.) defeated Vida Mulec and Anna Moncolova in a hard fought match, 9-8 (12). The duo of Erica Fisk (Jr./Indianapolis, Ind.) and Jackie Leskovar (Jr./N.C. State) recorded a victory at the No. 2 spot over Stephanie Balzert and Daria Potapova, 8-5. Meighan Colville (Jr./Toronto, Ontario) and Lindsey Adams (So./ Mercer Island, Wash.) played at the No. 3 spot and posted a win over Alison Bradley and Barbora Blahutiakova, 8-3.

In singles actions, No. 75 senior Pervez upset No. 45 Mulec in the game-deciding match 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Fisk recorded her second-consecutive win at the No. 2 spot over Anna Moncolova in a straight-set match, 6-1, 6-4. Williams fell to Balzert at the No. 3 position, 6-0, 6-1. Leskovar recorded the game-tying point over Potapova, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. In the third set, Leskovar was down 4-0 before completing six-consecutive points to win the match and tie the game for the Buckeyes. At the No. 5 spot, Michelle Matko (Sr./ Aurora, Ill.) lost to Barbora Blahutiakova 6-3, 6-3. In the final singles slot, Lindsay Bryan (So./New Orleans, La.) was defeated by Izabela Mijic, 6-2, 6-4. The No. 40-ranked Buckeyes have the week off before they return home to face Big Ten rivals Michigan State Feb. 14 and Michigan Feb. 16.

“It was another battle,” Frank Polito, OSU coach, said. “Our Doubles continue to play well. Jackie came through with a big victory to tie the game. I was proud of the entire team and how they fought. They showed a lot of heart.”
