COLUMBUS, Ohio – Therese Hession, now in her 16th season at Ohio State, and The OSU Golf Club Scarlet Course are tied for the No. 1 position with Duke as the best combination of coach/facility in the country, in the September edition of Golf Digest. The publication also rated the Buckeyes’ No. 18 nationally as the team prepares to start the fall season.
Scarlet was renovated by Jack Nicklaus Design prior to the 2006 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships last May at The OSU Golf Club.
Hession said facilities and preparation have helped the Buckeyes achieve the preseason recognition.
“We are honored to be considered among the Top 20 ladies golf programs in the nation,” Hession said. “It is always our first priority to prepare players to do their best. Our facilities are excellent and I have been blessed with the opportunity to coach many talented student-athletes. I will do my very best to keep this tradition going.”
Hession has guided the Buckeyes to 13-consecutive trips to NCAA postseason competition, including four-consecutive Top 8 finishes from 2002-05.
Ohio State opens the fall season at the Lady Northern Invitational in East Lansing, Mich., Sept. 16.
