Ohio State Wins North Regionals

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State synchronized (artistic) swimming team closed its 2023 home slate with a win at the North Regional Championship meet on Saturday at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The Buckeyes earned a team score of 105 points to finish ahead of Michigan (78) and Minnesota (60.5).

Ohio State swimmers made up the competition field in A Figures, with Emily Armstrong leading the way with a score of 81.8797. In B Figures, the Buckeyes took the top seven places as Victoria Carlson led the group with a score of 72.8673.

Nikki Dzurko earned yet another win in the solo category, this time earning a score of 82.9750. Rose Homoelle (78.158) and Hannah Heffernan (69.7583) finished second and third, respectively.

Buckeye duets finished first through fourth with Armstrong and Ruby Remati pacing the group with a score of 82.0167. Paige Hopper and Emma Spott teamed up for second, earning a 75.5667. Carlson and Trinity Patton followed in third (74.9917) and Madi Almond and Caroline Walsh took fourth (70.9250).

Ohio State trios took the top three spots in the category at the North Regionals. Dzurko, Hopper and Spott won the category with a routine that scored an 81.8833. Armstrong, Heffernan and Remati scored a 79.7250 for second and Marian Catahan, Charlotte Gray and Olivia Schafer earned a 74.1250 for third.

The Buckeyes’ scarlet team of Armstrong, Dzurko, Homoelle, Hopper, Olivia Malloy, Reverie Nedde, Remati and Spott took first in team competition with a final score of 83.200. The gray squat of Carlson, Catahan, Gray, Lilly Ortiz, Patton, Schafer, Walsh and Megan Wong finished second with a 78.1167 scored routine.

Ohio State has just under a month to prepare for the 2023 U.S. Collegiate National Championship meet set for March 22-25. The Buckeyes will make the trip to Westmont, Ill. for the meet as they look to defend their 2022 national title.
