Columbus, Ohio- The Ohio State Pistol team took on their second home match of the season this past weekend, competing against Army West Point, Akron, and one women’s competitor from Ashland University. Both Army West Point and Ohio State competed in both open and women’s aggregate, while Akron only competed in Open. Ohio State took first in Open (6,477) and in Women’s (3,171).
Four Buckeyes set new personal bests this past weekend, including Shrenik Jain (Air Pistol; 563, 3-Gun Aggregate; 1624), Cade Haiby (Standard Pistol; 533, Air Pistol; 544, 3-Gun Aggregate; 1,554), Con Marrinan (Free Pistol; 516, 3-Gun Aggregate; 1590) and Bernard Melus (3-Gun Aggregate; 1,586). The Buckeye Women’s team also shot a season-best 1604 in Sport Pistol, while the Buckeye Men’s team shot a season-best 2090 in Free Pistol. The Ohio State Pistol team set a season-best in Air Pistol (2,242) and in 3-Gun Aggregate (6,477).
Several highlights from this past weekend include Sam Gens taking 1st place in Free Pistol, 3rd place in Air Pistol, and 2nd place in 3-Gun Aggregate, Shrenik Jain taking 2nd place in Standard Pistol, 2nd place in Air Pistol, and 1st place in 3-Gun Aggregate, Anthony McCollum taking 1st place in Air Pistol, Emily Rust taking 1st place in Women’s Air Pistol, Sport Pistol and 2-Gun Aggregate, and Emily Nothnagle took 3rd place in Sport Pistol.
The Buckeyes travel to Colorado for the Winter Air Gun Championships on December 1st.
