Ohio State Travels to No. 24 Arizona for Final Road Meet

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics team makes its final road trip of the regular season when it visits No. 24 Arizona for a tri-meet with Bridgeport at 5 p.m. ET on March 8 at the McKale Center.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS 

No. 24 Arizona (5-6, 1-5 PAC) is looking to bounce back from a 196.400-196.275 loss to No. 8 California last weekend. The Wildcats are currently ranked 21st on vault and come in at No. 29 on uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. Maddi Leydin is ranked 25th nationally on vault behind an average of 9.975. On uneven bars, Christina Berg stands at No. 18 with an average score of 9.881. Arizona leads the all-time series against Ohio State, 2-1.

A LOOK AT THE PURPLE KNIGHTS

Bridgeport (11-3) is coming off of a first-place finish at a five-team meet at Southern Connecticut State where it posted a season-high 194.800. Ohio State and Bridgeport have only faced off once before, which resulted in a Buckeye victory.

LAST TIME OUT

The Buckeyes (6-8, 4-6 B1G) placed fourth in a quad-meet at No. 20 Missouri last weekend. Ohio State earned a pair of event titles as a team thanks to a 49.350 on vault and 49.150 on uneven bars. Olivia Aepli tied for gold on bars when she tallied a 9.875.

HIGH SCORES

While at Missouri, the Buckeyes scored a season-high 49.350 on vault to win the event. Freshman Elexis Edwards shined in her collegiate debut with a 9.925 on vault to claim a first-place finish.

BUCKEYES IN THE RANKINGS

As a team, Ohio State is currently ranked 15th on uneven bars, averaging a 49.119 in the event. The Buckeyes also check in at No. 23 on floor exercise behind a 49.056.

UP NEXT

Ohio State returns to the Covelli Center for its regular season finale and hosts Pittsburgh at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 14.
