COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s ice hockey team (5-9-2, 4-6-2 WCHA) defeated St. Cloud State (3-10-0, 3-6-0 WCHA), 6-4, Sunday at the OSU Ice Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The game marked the Buckeyes’ final home game until Jan. 25 when they take on Mercyhurst.

St. Cloud State’s Carrie Holldorf recorded the first goal of the game unassisted at 7:27. Ohio State followed scoring four goals in the period. Erin O’Grady (Jr., London, Ontario/Culver Academy) scored a short-handed unassisted goal at 9:11, the Buckeyes’ first short-handed goal of the season. OSU’s Shana Frost (Sr., Frankford, Ontario/Beatrice North York Aeros) tipped in the puck from a shot by Jana Harrigan (Fr., Burlington, Ontario/Mississauga Jr. Chiefs) for Ohio State’s second goal at 12:39. Harrigan and Jeanne Chapple (Jr., Vadnais Heights, Minn./Mounds View) assisted on the goal. Jennifer Desson (So., Niagara Falls, Ontario/St. Paul’s/Stoney Creek Jr. Sabres) soon followed with a goal assisted by Emily Hudak (Sr., Marblehead, Mass./Cushing) and Jeni Creary (So., Shell Lake, Saskatchewan/Notre Dame) at 12:52. Meaghan Mulvaney (So., Sylvania, Ohio/Honeybaked) and Desson assisted Emma Laaksonen (Jr., Espoo, Finland/Team Finland/Blues Espoo) on a goal at 15:13. At the end of the first period, OSU led the Huskies 4-1 in goals and 13-12 in shots.

Ohio State held strong in the second period. St. Cloud State’s Katie Hauge scored at 18:32 assisted by Calise Johnson and Kelly Stewart. The Buckeyes were unable to record a goal in the period, but they outshot the Huskies 14-6.

St. Cloud State tried to make a come back in the third period recording two goals. Every time the Huskies would score the Buckeyes followed with a goal of their own. Melanie Pudsey scored St. Cloud State’s third goal at 7:27. Within 20 seconds, OSU’s Lindsey Steblen (Sr., Clayton, N.Y./Lake Placid Rockets) tallied her first goal of the season and the game-winning goal at 7:40. Steblen’s goal was assisted by O’Grady. St. Cloud State’s Pudsey scored her second goal of the game at 17:21 bring the Huskies within one again. Heather Farrell (Jr., Perth, Ontario/Pomfret/Connecticut Polar Bears) tallied the final goal of the game for OSU, assisted by Crystal Sayther (Fr., Burnsville, Minn./Burnsville) and Hudak.

Ohio State goalkeeper April Stojak (Sr., Kent, Ohio/Shattuck-St. Mary’s) played the full 60 minutes in the net and recorded 24 saves. St. Cloud State’s Brie Anderson recorded 35 saves in 60 minutes.

Ohio State has a bye Dec. 7th and 8th. The Buckeyes return to action at 7 p.m. Dec. 13th and 14th when they face No. 10 Princeton at the Hobey Baker Memorial Rink in Princeton, N.J. The road series will mark OSU’s last game before holiday break.
