COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-18, 27-25) against Lindenwood on Friday night at the Covelli Center. The Buckeyes improve to 7-8 (6-5 MIVA) as the Lions fall to 4-10 (1-10 MIVA).
Ohio State had a .316 hitting clip while holding Lindenwood to a .165 attacking percentage. The Buckeyes also out-blocked the Lions by an 11-to-4 margin.
Sotiris Siapanis extended his season-long streak of double-digit kills with a match-high 14. Martin Lallemand added 10 kills while Samuel Clark connected on all five of his error-free swings.
Michael Wright shared a match-best 31 assists and Parker Mikesch dug nine balls. Jacob Pasteur tallied a career-high six blocks, followed by Justin Howard with five rejections. Lallemand and Pasteur both had two service aces.
SET 1: The Buckeyes fell behind early in the match but it did not last long. Ohio State scored seven straight points to take a commanding 18-10 lead. The Lions tried to get back into the rally but came up short, 25-18.
SET 2: Lindenwood needed a timeout after a 4-0 run put Ohio State ahead 15-13. The Lions strung together three consecutive tallies to pull within one, 17-16. The Buckeyes earned the final six points to win the rally, 25-18.
SET 3: A kill by Siapanis pushed Ohio State’s advantage to 12-9. Lindenwood found its footing to tie the score at 17-all. The teams traded the next 15 points for a stalemate at 25-25. A kill by Siapanis, bad set by the Lions and ace from Lallemand sealed the victory, 27-25.
