COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team will host two preseason scrimmages in the brand-new Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium in preparation for the 2023 season. The team will play Lafayette on Jan. 21 and Robert Morris on Jan. 28. Both games start at noon and admission is free.
The Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium is located at 630 Irving Schottenstein Dr., between the Ty Tucker Tennis Center and Covelli Center. For the scrimmages, fans can park for free in the Buckeye Lots located on Fred Taylor Dr.
It’s only fitting that the first opponent the men’s lacrosse program welcomes to the Lacrosse Stadium is one with Buckeye leadership. Lafayette’s coaching staff features two members of the Buckeye lacrosse brotherhood in head coach Pat Myers and assistant coach Jud Hall. Myers, in his fifth season at the helm of the Leopards’ program, is a 2003 Ohio State graduate and the younger brother of Ohio State head coach Nick Myers. He was named the GWLL Rookie of Year his freshmen season in 2000, helped lead the program to its first NCAA appearance in 2003 and then joined the coaching staff at Ohio State for the year after.
Head coaches Nick and Pat Myers are the only coaches in Division I lacrosse who are brothers. Together, they’ve coached Team USA to two gold medals. The brothers guided the team to gold at the World Lacrosse Championships in 2016 and most recently this past summer when Team USA defeated Team Canada 12-10 in Limerick, Ireland.
Hall was a four-year Ohio State volunteer assistant coach, helping the Buckeyes to NCAA quarterfinal appearances in 2013 and 2015, a regular-season ECAC championship in 2014 and an ECAC Tournament championship in 2013.
Ohio State welcomes Robert Morris to Columbus for the first time since 2019 for the Jan. 28 scrimmage. The game will be the fans’ final chance to see the new stadium before ticketed games begin with Ohio State’s regular season opener Feb. 4 against Air Force.
