COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 2012 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Fencing Championships will be hosted by Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The championships, taking place March 22-25, will be held at French Field House, with championship bouts decided inside St. John Arena.

This will be the third time Ohio State has hosted the championship (2008 and 2011).

“This will be the third time in the last five years Ohio State has had the privilege of hosting the NCAA championships for fencing, now two years in a row,” Vladimir Nazlymov, Ohio State fencing head coach, said. “I believe this should be viewed as a compliment to the brilliant staff of the OSU Athletics Department. For those young fencers, from around the world, looking for a top university… this is clearly a beacon for success.”

In 2008, the first year the Buckeyes hosted the event, Ohio State clinched its third team championship in program history. Last year the Scarlet and Gray notched a fifth-place finish, extending the school’s streak of Top 5 finishes to 10 seasons.

The Buckeyes begin their 2011-12 schedule Oct. 22 by hosting the OSU Duals at French Field House.
