COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team will host the 18th annual Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic on Saturday, Sept. 29. Games will be played at Fred Beekman Park, located on the Ohio State campus, and Buckeye Field.
Ohio State will play twice on Saturday at Buckeye Field. The day will begin against Bowling Green at 12:45 p.m. before the Buckeyes wrap up competition versus Cleveland State at 3 p.m.
Twenty teams from Ohio and neighboring states are set to participate this year. In addition to games at Buckeye Field, Saturday’s schedule includes multiple games on eight fields at Fred Beekman Park. Admission to all games is free and donations to charity will be collected throughout the day at both sites.
The Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic has raised over $200,000, making it one of the largest fundraisers for Breast Cancer Awareness month in central Ohio. Proceeds benefit The Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at the OSUCCC-James.
Under seventh-year head coach Kelly Kovach Schoenly, the Buckeyes are coming off their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Ohio State won 36 games last year, the most under Schoenly and highest total since 2010.
The Buckeyes have also finalized their 2018 fall schedule, which includes four home dates. Ohio State hosts Wright State (11 a.m.) and Pittsburgh (3:45 p.m.) Sunday, Sept. 23. The annual Scarlet vs. Gray scrimmage will take place on Friday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. The fall slate concludes with a 1 p.m. outing against Kentucky on Sunday, Sept. 30.
