COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Central Collegiate Hockey Association is proud to announce a partnership with The Ohio State University and the Columbus Blue Jackets for the “Heroes of Hockey Day” initiative as part of Hockey Weekend Across America, Jan 29-31.

“Hockey is a growing sport in Central Ohio,” Ohio State head coach John Markell said. “We are pleased to join in this effort to recognize individuals who have helped the game expand. It has taken the work of many dedicated members of the community to help the game we all love become a prominent part of the culture around Columbus and Central Ohio.”

Similar to the recently announced initiative within the state of Michigan, the CCHA will be recognizing a member of the Columbus-area hockey community that goes above and beyond the call of duty to grow the game. The winner will be recognized on on Jan. 30th.

The winner will receive:

  • Two tickets to Alaska vs. Ohio State on Saturday, Feb. 13th
  • Special recognition on
  • A stick signed by the Ohio State hockey team and team tee-shirt
  • Autographed Columbus Blue Jackets memorabilia
  • Four tickets to Columbus vs. Vancouver on Friday, Feb. 12th
