COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State Buckeyes fought valiantly but couldn’t overcome the No. 3 Iowa Hawkeyes tonight, falling 32-6, before 1,899 at St. John Arena.

%^$Two Buckeyes who are having successful seasons landed victories. Matt Fratta (Sr., Willard, Ohio) defeated Iowa’s Ben Kritsonis in overtime, 6-4, for OSUs first victory on the evening. Wrestling at 125 pounds, Fratta found himself trailing, 4-3, late in the third period. But he managed to go over one minute in advantage time to pick up the point that tied the score at 4-4. The two wrestlers went into sudden death overtime, which Fratta ended when he scored two points for a takedown.

%^$The other Buckeye who picked up a win was Peter Rogers (Jr., Sheboygan, Wis.). One of the hottest OSU wrestlers at the moment, Rogers was tied up at 2-2 late in the third period when he eclipsed the one minute mark in advantage time. He was able to hang on in the final seconds to capture a 3-2 victory.

%^$Rogers has now won eight straight decisions and ten of his last eleven. He leads the team in dual match victories with 11.

%^$Ohio State has no time to worry about this loss, as tomorrow they travel to No. 11 Penn State to take on the Nittany Lions in University Park, Pa., at 7 p.m. The Buckeyes return home on Friday, January 29, when they take on No. 16 Purdue at 7 p.m. in St. John Arena.
