LINCOLN, Neb. – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team was swept by No. 6 Nebraska (25-15, 25-12, 25-12) inside the Devaney Center on Friday night. The setback drops the Buckeyes to 12-19 overall and 3-16 in the Big Ten while the Cornhuskers improve to 23-6 overall and 14-5 in conference play with the series sweep.
Lauren Witte added a team-high eight kills on a .375 clip. Vanja Bukilić chipped in six kills while Adria Powell had three kills and a career-best five digs. Bia Franklin tallied eight digs, three kills and a service ace. Olivia Dailey handed out 21 assists with two digs and Becca Mauer earned seven digs and three kills. Camry Halm and Hannah Gruensfelder notched 10 and five digs, respectively.
SET 1: Ohio State burned both of its timeouts early as it trailed by as many as seven. The Buckeyes scored three straight on kills by Bukilić and Dailey with a Halm ace, which cut the deficit to 17-13 and sent the Huskers to their bench. Nebraska responded with an 8-2 run to close the set, 25-15.
SET 2: The Huskers doubled up on the Buckeyes at the 12-6 mark. Ohio State tried to hang tough but dropped the set, 25-12.
SET 3: The Buckeyes went on a 3-0 run to whittle the advantage down to 7-6, but Nebraska quickly jumped out to a 14-9 lead to force an OSU timeout. Out of the break, the Huskers rolled to a 25-12 win.
