COLUMBUS, Ohio — The No. 14-ranked Ohio State women’s tennis team took down Youngstown State twice Thursday in a doubleheader at the Varsity Tennis Center. The first match had just one court go into a third set, while the 5 p.m. match wrapped up in straight sets all around. The Buckeyes won the doubles point in both matches and swept the Penguins 7-0 in the second match after a 6-1 win in the opener. The Buckeyes improve to 10-2 this year and have won seven matches in a row, with four shutouts in the stretch. Isabelle Boulais and Danielle Wolf led the Buckeyes with four total wins on the day, teaming up for two doubles victories and each winning twice in singles.

Match One (Ohio State 6, Youngstown State 1)

Ohio State did not drop a game on courts two and three to clinch the doubles point. On court three, Isabelle Boulais and Danielle Wolf defeated Claudia Barboza and Cassandra Moreleja and on court two, Kolie Allen and Andrea Ballinger topped Iman Hassim and Lucia Zagar. The tandem of Shiori Fukuda and Luna Dormet was leading 5-1 on court one.

On court two, No. 48 Allen rallied from a set down against Teufl to force a super tiebreaker, but the Penguin prevailed, 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (9). The loss ended a 10-match winning streak for the Buckeye freshman.

Match Two (Ohio State 7, Youngstown State 0)

The Buckeyes started the match with a 1-0 advantage after winning the doubles point. The doubles point began with a win by the duo of Luna Dormet and Shiori Fukuda on court one, who posted a victory over Imaan Hassim and Tamara Teufl, 6-1. Closely following, Danielle Wolf and Isabelle Boulais took down Lisa Khamassi and Lucia Zagar, 6-2. Andrea Ballinger and Kolie Allen were ahead in their match 5-3 when play was suspended.

During singles, the Buckeye squad did not waste time notching a second team win of the day, posting six straight-set victories. The first two Buckeyes to walk off the court dropped two games each. Fukuda topped Hassim, 6-0, 6-2, on court two and Mary Beth Hurley took down Barboza on court six, 6-2, 6-0.

The Buckeye to officially secure the win for Ohio State was Dormet, as her match against Moraleja ended in a 6-1, 6-2 win. Seconds later, Wolf wrapped up play in straight sets over Zagar, 6-4, 6-0. Boulais starred on court one where she took on Teufl of the Penguins. The first set was a close 7-5 and the Buckeye pulled away in the second, 6-2.
