COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s ice hockey team (0-0-0) shut out the Toronto Varsity Blues (0-0-0), 4-0, in an exhibition game Saturday at the OSU Ice Arena in Columbus. Jeni Creary (So., Shell Lake, Saskatchewan/Notre Dame) led the Buckeyes with two goals.

Creary scored the first goal of the game for the Buckeye, during OSU’s first power play, 10:38 into the first period. Emily Hudak (Sr., Marblehead, Mass/Cushing) assisted on the goal.

Freshman Jana Harrigan (Fr., Burlington, Ontario/Mississauga Jr. Chiefs) put the Buckeyes ahead, 2-0, with a goal at 13:25. Shana Frost (Sr., Frankford, Ontario/Beatrice North York Areos) and Jeanne Chapple (Jr., Vadnais Heights, Minn./Mounds View) were credited with the assists.

Katie Sershen (Fr., Woodybury, Minn./Minnesota Thoroughbreds) and Lindsey Ogren (Sr., North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View) assisted Heather Farrell (Jr., Perth, Ontario/Pomfret/Connecticut Polar Bears) on OSU’s third goal of the game, at the 14:49 of the first period.

Creary tallied her second goal of the game, scoring unassisted, 6:52 into the third period.

Ohio State was 1-for-4 on the power play. The Buckeyes held the Varsity Blues scoreless on all eight of their power-play chances.

The Buckeyes finished the game with 23 shots and nine penalties. Toronto had 30 shots and only five penalties.

Senior April Stojak (Sr., Kent, Ohio/Shattuck-St. Mary’s) and Freshman Natalie Lamme (Fr., Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) combined for the shutout in the OSU goal. Stojak played the first 31:37 recording 17 saves. Lamme played the last 28:23 recording 13 saves.

Ohio State opens its season against Minnesota State, Mankato at 7:05 p.m. Friday and Saturday at All Seasons Arena in Mankato, Minn. The Buckeyes return home Oct. 18 and 19 when they take on New Hampshire in the OSU Ice Arena.
