COLUMBUS, Ohio –The Ohio State men’s and women’s cross country programs kicked off the weekend running in the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational Friday morning at the Penn State Golf Course in University Park, Pa. Sophomore Addie Engel highlighted the Buckeyes’ meet, finishing fourth in the women’s 6K race.

Engel, the reigning Big Ten Athlete of the Week, led the women’s squad in its 6K run, as she finished fourth with a time of 20:48.6 for a second straight Top 5 finish. The other four Buckeyes who counted in the team standings all notched Top 30 finishes – Andrea Kuhn, Hannah Moulton, Daniella Santos and Akemi Von Scherr.
For the women, No. 25-ranked Georgetown won the race, with No. 9 Minnesota second, No. 11 Michigan third, Syracuse (RV) fourth and the No. 28 Buckeyes fifth, with host Penn State in sixth. The Top 5 individual finishers were all from different schools.
Freshman Kevin Agnew paced the Buckeye men for the second meet in a row, as he was the top Ohio State finisher in the 5.2 mile race, placing 33rd with a time of 26:11.2. Zubin Jha was 1.6 seconds behind Agnew in 35th. Ivan Slyepkan, Giovanni Copploe and Zach Schultz rounded out the Buckeyes’ Top 5.
No. 26-ranked Michigan won the men’s race, with Syracuse (RV) second and No. 25 Georgetown third, followed by Minnesota, Penn State and Ohio State.

“It was a great opportunity to be on the course where we will race the Big Ten Championship. We definitely learned some things today that will help us tremendously in six weeks. We are looking forward to getting back to Columbus and back to work.
“On the women’s side Addie Engel did a great job and showed she can run with some of the best women in the country.”
