Aug. 16, 2017

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State women’s basketball program unveiled its entire 2017-18 schedule on Wednesday afternoon and it features at least eight teams that played in the NCAA Tournament last season. Game times and TV assignments for all games will be announced at a later date.

After an exhibition game against Urbana on Nov. 5, the Buckeyes jump right into the fray when it opens the season at home against 2017 Final Four participant Stanford on Nov. 10. That game, which will be the first back in Columbus for Stanford Hall of Fame head coach Tara Vanderveer since coaching the Buckeyes in the early 80s, will be played at St. John Arena.

UConn was previously announced as OSU’s second opponent as part of the Countdown to Columbus event on Nov. 12 at Nationwide Arena but that matchup has been changed. Due to television demands and travel logistics, Ohio State will now take on Louisville in that event while UConn will play Stanford. Game times and TV assignments for those games have not yet been confirmed.

A mid-week home game against Idaho on Nov. 15 will be the first at the Schottenstein Center and it will lead into the Buckeyes Thanksgiving Weekend trip to Las Vegas for the Play4Kay Shootout. The full field for that event has yet to be announced. OSU played in the South Point Shootout two years ago in Las Vegas over the Thanksgiving holiday and went 2-0 with a win over then No. 10 Texas A&M.

This year’s opponent in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge will be Duke and that game is scheduled for Nov. 30 in Durham. The month of December opens with a matchup against Maine on Dec. 3 and a trip to Gainesville, Fla., for a game against Florida on Dec. 6. After a break for fall semester exams, the Buckeyes will take on Ivy League foe Dartmouth on Dec. 15 before traveling to Cincinnati for a game with the Bearcats on Dec. 17.

The Buckeyes will play two games before Christmas but those two games have yet to be finalized and will be announced soon. The Big Ten released it conference slate on Wednesday afternoon as well and Ohio State will open on the road at Nebraska on Dec. 28. The first home conference game will be on the final day of 2017 as the Buckeyes will host Indiana in a rematch of last year’s New Year’s Eve title in Bloomington which OSU won 92-82.

The Buckeyes have home-and-home series with Indiana (H 12/31, A 1/13), Michigan (A 1/7, H 1/16), and Penn State (H 1/31, A 2/25). The road only opponents are Illinois (2/13), Iowa (1/25), Maryland (1/22), Nebraska (12/28) and Wisconsin (2/3) while the home only opponents are Michigan State (1/28), Minnesota (1/4), Northwestern (2/21), Purdue (2/18) and Rutgers (2/8).

The final non-conference game of the season comes right in the middle of Big Ten play as the Buckeyes head to Florida once again, this time to take on USF on Sunday, Feb. 11.

The Big Ten Tournament will again be played at BankersLife Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis, Ind., on February 28 — March 4.
