COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics team makes its 42nd appearance in an NCAA Regional on Friday at 1 p.m. when it takes the floor in Morgantown, W. Va.

The regional will begin with a first-round dual meet between West Virginia and Penn State on Thursday with the highest-scoring team moving on to the second round’s evening session. The second round consists of two sessions on Friday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively. The top two teams from each session advance to the regional final on Saturday at 7 p.m. Ohio State will compete against No. 5 Cal, No. 12 BYU and Towson in the first session. The second session features No. 4 Michigan, No. 13 UCLA, Kent State and the winner of the first round matchup. In the final round, the two highest-scoring teams will advance to the NCAA Championships in Fort Worth, Texas on April 16-17.

The Buckeyes last competed on March 20 at the 2021 Big Ten Championships and finished with a team score of 195.225 to place eighth overall. Jenna Swartzentruber led the team on bars with a score of 9.900. Claire Gagliardi joined her on the Big Ten All-Championship Team.
The highest-ranked event for the Buckeyes this season has been uneven bars. The team is 22nd nationally with a 49.194 qualifying score. Ohio State recorded a season-high 49.300 on Feb. 7, which tied for the fifth-best bar rotation in program history. The Buckeyes have scored a 9.9 or better five times this season, paced by Swartzentruber who has hit the mark four times.
Ohio State sits at No. 27 with a national qualifying score of 196.194. Big Ten teams in the Top 25 include No. 4 Michigan, No. 8 Minnesota, No. 16 Illinois and No. 19 Iowa. The Buckeyes rank 22nd on bars (49.194) and 24th on beam (49.163). Individually, Swartzentruber is 22nd on bars with a 9.913 NQS.
