COLUMBUS, Ohio – Coming off its sixth victory over a top-15 ranked team this season, the Ohio state men’s tennis team has risen to No. 1 in the latest Oracle ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings released on Tuesday.

The Buckeyes are 13-1 on the season and boast six wins over top-15 teams. All of those six wins have come in the last two and a half weeks. The Buckeyes lone loss on the season came in the finals of the ITA National Indoor Team Championship to previous No. 1 Virginia on its home court.

This is the first time Ohio State has been ranked No. 1 since April 15, 2014. Overall, this is just the fourth team to rise to No. 1 in the rankings in school history. In addition to the 2014 squad, the team spent time at No. 1 in 2013 as well as in 2009.

The Buckeyes opened the season ranked No. 3 and jumped to No. 2 in last week’s rankings on the backs of their runner-up finish at the National Indoors.

Ohio State returns to action at home this weekend with matches against No. 29 Notre Dame and No. 4 Oklahoma. The match with Notre Dame is set for 6 p.m. on Friday, March 3 and the match with the Sooners is a Noon start on Sunday, March 5. In the Sooners last trip to Columbus, they halted the Buckeyes’ NCAA record 200 match home win streak. This will also be the second match this season between Ohio State and Oklahoma as the Buckeyes claimed a 4-0 victory in the opening round of the ITA National Indoor Championship on Feb. 17.
