NCAAs Day Three Results

COLUMBUS, Ohio- The Ohio State fencing team finished the third day of the 2014 NCAA Fencing Championships in fifth place after the first three rounds of men’s competition, Saturday, in French Field House.

In men’s foil, Zain Shaito finished in fifth place, winning ten of his 15 bouts. Shaito tallied 60 touches with a +11 indicator. Chris Colley ended in 20th place for foil, with five victories and 44 touches.

Kristian Boyadzhiev led the Buckeyes in men’s epee, placed tenth for the first three rounds of competition, with eight victories and 53 touches. Freshman Iñaki de Guzman finished in 22nd with four victories and 44 touches.

Fares Arfa debuted in ninth place with eight victories and 56 touches scored for men’s sabre. Senior Rhys Douglas finished in 21st place for the day, with five victories and 44 touches.

The Ohio State fencing finished fifth with 121 points, one victory behind St. John’s University. The Buckeyes tallied 821 touches with a +30 indicator.

The 2014 NCAA Fencing Championships will resume Sunday with the final day of competition beginning at 9 a.m. in French Field House for rounds 4-5 of men’s competition in the morning and men’s semi-finals and championship bouts beginning at 1:45 p.m. in St. John Arena, in the afternoon. The team champion will be announced after men’s competition has concluded.
