COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State rowing team is set to make its 20th appearance at the NCAA Championships after securing an at-large bid on Tuesday. The Buckeyes are one of six Big Ten teams to compete in the championships that will be held in Indianapolis on May 30 – June 1.
The highest seeded boat for Ohio State at this year’s championships is the First Varsity Four, who is seeded fourth. The Second Varsity Eight is seeded at No. 7 and the First Varsity Eight is seeded eighth.
The Buckeyes are one of 22 teams who will compete at this year’s championships. Each school will field two eight boats and one four boat for the championship event.
BUCKEYES IN THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Ohio State comes into the championships having competed in 19 of the last 21 NCAA championships all-time The team owns seven individual titles and has finished in the top-10 a total of 18 times. Last year, the team finished sixth overall. The First Varsity Four finished third, the highest finish by a Buckeye boat at the event. The First Varsity Eight finished sixth overall and the Second Varsity Eight finished eighth.
This past weekend, the Buckeyes finished second at the Big Ten Championships with a total of 171 points. The First Varsity Four, Third Varsity Four and Second Novice Eight each defended their conference titles, while the rest of the Buckeye crews all finished in the top three of their respective races.
