COLUMBUS, Ohio – Buckeye fencers finished competition at the Division I North American Cup tournament in St. Louis, Mo., Monday.

Eight of the 18 participants earned Top 25 finishes, led by senior Katarzyna Dabrowa earning the silver medal in Division I women’s epee. Junior Kristian Boyadzhiev pointed the way for the men’s squad by placing sixth while senior Marco Canevari finished seventh.

Sisters Mona and Mai Shaito led the women’s foil unit by placing 29th and 31st, respectively. Sophomore Nina Stackhouse followed closely by finishing 34th. For the men’s foil group, sophomore Chris Colley led the Buckeyes with a 17th place finish, joining the Top 25.

Sabreist Alison Miller added a Top 10 finish by placing sixth for the women’s group. Celina Merza also competed in women’s sabre, placing 26th overall. On the men’s side, both athletes earned a spot in the Top 25. Senior Max Stearns and junior Rhys Douglas placed 14th and 19th respectively.

The Buckeyes conclude this month’s competitions by jumping back on the strips Oct. 27-28 when they compete at the Notre Dame Individual in South Bend, Ind.
