COLUMBUS, Ohio The nationally-ranked Ohio State men’s swimming and diving continued its perfect ways by sailing to a 147-82 win over Cleveland State Tuesday at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.

The No. 15 Buckeyes won 12 of 13 swimming events, while the divers, under coach Vince Panzano, swept both the one- and three-meter events.

Senior Matt Voelker and junior Matthias Sigrist continued excellence in their respective races. Voelker captured both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events, recording season-best times of 20.74 and 45.63, respectively. Sigrist picked up his fourth consecutive win in the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:40.72.

“I was happy to see Matt Voelker show his senior leadership and step it up,” Bill Wadley, men’s swimming head coach, said. “He had two very nice swims for us tonight.”

Sophomores Mark Neiman and Stefan Sigrist improved their season-best times for Ohio State. Neiman took first in the 1,000 freestyle (9:22.05), while Sigrist finished first in the 500 freestyle (4:29.33). Freshman Justin Farra won the 400 individual medley in a time of 3:59.83 for his first collegiate victory as a Buckeye.

“I am very happy for Justin (Farra). He recorded a lifetime best and had a great swim,” said Wadley.

Diver Sean Moore was another Buckeye to win his first collegiate events after the freshman took both the one- and three-meter boards with scores of 357.82 and 404.10, respectively.

Other individual top finishers for the Buckeyes were freshmen Quincy Lee in the 100 butterfly (50.41) and Itai Chammah in the 100 backstroke (50.66).

The 200 medley relay of Dan Novak, Felipe Travesso, Andrew Bretscher and Joel Elber opened the meet with a win in a time of 1:31.09. Elber, M. Sigrist, Yannick van Heers and Voelker closed out the dual meet with a victory for the Buckeyes in the 200 freestyle relay (1:23.20).

Ohio State will host the third annual Ohio State Swimming and Diving Invitational, Nov. 30-Dec. 2. Men’s and women’s teams from 13 universities are scheduled to compete, including from Notre Dame, South Carolina, Denver, Iowa, Michigan State, Illinois and Minnesota, Alabama, Arizona State, Bowling Green, Purdue and Utah are scheduled to compete.
