Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s and women’s cross country teams ran at the 50th annual All-Ohio Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships Friday at Ohio Wesleyan’s Methodist Theological School in Delaware, Ohio. The men’s team captured the event with a score of 38 points, defeating Cincinnati by 64 points. The OSU women took second place for the second straight season with 115 points, falling behind Kent State’s 113.

The men were led by junior Brian Olinger as he topped the field to become the first Ohio State runner since Ian Connor in 1998 to claim the individual race. Olinger timed a 25:28.5 to win the men’s 8-kilometer run. Also for the men, John Ealy placed third in 25:56.5, while Glenn Collins and Matt Buzek also placed in the Top 10.

The women were paced by Robyn Detty, who placed fourth in the 6-kilometer in a time of 18:28.9, which serves as her best time this season. Teammate Melanie Price crossed the finish line in 15th place in 18:54.0.

The Ohio State men’s and women’s cross country teams return to action Oct. 16 in Terre Haute, Ind. to compete in the 2004 Pre-National Championships.
