COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University women’s golf team will be one of 24 schools competing for the 2017 NCAA Championship (May 19-24) at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill. Ohio State placed fourth in the 18-team NCAA Columbus Regional (May 8-10) hosted on the OSU Golf Club’s Scarlet Course. The Buckeyes have booked their fifth NCAA Championships appearance in the last seven seasons.
Ohio State has now advanced to the NCAA’s final stage 21 times since 1983. Hall of Fame head coach Therese Hession has been at the helm for 16 trips to the national tournament, including six Top-10 finishes. Katja Pogacar and Jessica Porvasnik will be competing in their third career NCAA Championships.
Pogacar registered the Scarlet & Gray’s low round of the week during Wednesday’s final round; a 2-under 70 which vaulted her nine slots up into a tie for fifth place overall in the 96-player field. Jaclyn Lee and Rio Watanabe each earned shares of 13th place garnering 54-hole tallies of 224 (+8). Niki Schroeder also cracked the top-third, placing 30th at 12-over (228).
