COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Kirk Haston scored 15 of his 18 points in the second%^$half and made two key defensive plays in the final 36 seconds as Indiana%^$defeated Ohio State 70-67 Wednesday night.%^$

Haston stole Boban Savovic’s inbounds pass at midcourt and scored on a layup%^$to give the Hoosiers (13-4, 4-4 Big Ten) a 67-64 lead. Then, he deflected a%^$shot by Ohio State’s Brian Brown, and Kyle Hornsby made two free throws to put%^$the Hoosiers ahead 69-64 with 15.8 seconds left.%^$

Brown made a 3-pointer with 2.1 seconds to play to make it 69-67, but Tom%^$Coverdale hit one of two free throws and Haston intercepted Savovic’s long%^$inbounds pass as time expired.%^$

Coverdale scored 18 points Jared Jeffries 16 for Indiana, which snapped a%^$six-game road losing streak in the Big Ten.%^$

Brown led Ohio State (13-8, 4-5) with 17 points, while Boban Savovic added%^$nine. Ken Johnson had eight points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots for the%^$Buckeyes, who failed to build on Saturdays 64-55 win over then-No. 3 ranked%^$Michigan State.%^$

The game, pitting two teams on the NCAA Tournament bubble, was decided in a%^$tense second half that saw three ties and seven lead changes.%^$

Indiana trailed 32-31 at halftime, but surged ahead with an 11-4 run to open%^$the second half. Haston scored seven during the run.%^$

After Jeffries hit one of two free throws to give Indiana a 54-44 lead, Ohio%^$State responded with a 13-2 run to go ahead 57-54 with 5:55 left.%^$

Reserve Tim Martin, who averaged just 2.8 points per game, keyed the run%^$with eight points.%^$

Coverdale tied it at 57 with a 3-pointer, and the Hoosiers took the lead%^$moments later when Jeffries knocked a long rebound away from Martin to%^$Coverdale, who hit a 3 to put Indiana up 62-59 with 3:06 left.%^$

A back door layup and a spinning bank shot by Savovic helped Ohio State pull%^$within 65-64 with 1:15 left.%^$

Haston missed a hook at the other end, but atoned for the miss seconds%^$later. He tipped away Savovic’s inbounds pass for Martin and scored on a%^$breakaway layup to put Indiana up by three with 36 seconds to play.%^$

Ohio State led by as many as nine points in the first half, but managed just%^$two field goals over the final 6:18 as Indiana went to a full-court press.%^$

Indiana hit just 10-of-28 from the floor in the first half, but went 6-of-12%^$from 3-point range.%^$

It was the first time since 1971 that the teams played in Columbus without%^$Bob Knight on the Indiana bench.
